I’m excited to provide an invited talk at the Center for Advanced Internet Studies (CAIS) in Bochum on Wednesday, 4th of November 2026.
I was kindly invited by Prof. Dr. Nikol Rummel from CAIS and the University of Bochum for discussion with all CAIS colleagues on current educational challenges caused by Artificial Intelligence (AI).
I will speak about: “Ethical Artificial Intelligence and Education (AI&ED): The challenges for teaching and learning design“. (Update: You can find my slides with open CC-BY license below)
The development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is advancing rapidly, and the promises of its implementation opportunities and benefits are extraordinary.
In parallel, the AI use by teachers as well as students has grown significantly over the past few years, making it mainstream.
That leads to key questions:
- How do we have to change education and in particular assessment?
- Why should we regulate the AI introduction and use in school and higher education?
- How can such an AI regulation offer chances and advantages?
- And how can we exploit AI also for the democracy building and critical thinking?
To achieve these objectives, we have to strategically plan and implement the education with AI as well as the education about AI.
In my talk, I will focus the current challenges and present existing instruments and latest legal initiatives and policy developments.
Finally, I would like to discuss practical guidelines and opportunities common activities:
We all need to engage together with students, teachers and policy makers to facilitate and enhance grassroot-driven approaches for our future education and better society.
I’m looking forward to our discussions!
